This year the annual Village Cricket Match will be held on the Green at Boughton Lees on Sunday , starting at 12.00 p.m. and will be run jointly by the Iron Room Management Committee and the Cricket Club.
For those of you who haven’t taken part before, this is intended to be a fun afternoon for the whole village and the game is open to children under 13 years of age, their families and other villagers. All equipment will be provided, but experience and ability aren’t essential requirements! We’ll work out the format of the game depending on the mix and number of players, and if there are enough we may be able to run two shorter games. I expect to use a soft ball to make the game more suitable for the youngest players and so that we don’t use up a lot of time donning mountains of protective gear.
As usual, there will be a barbecue and raffle and we hope that a lunchtime start means we won’t have to worry about fading light or falling temperatures – with luck players and spectators may even enjoy some summer sunshine!
So if you’re interested in playing, please sign up asap on the poster on the Notice Board outside the Cricket Pavilion, or let me know direct, so that we can get an idea of numbers. If you simply want a pleasant afternoon on the Green, do come along as a spectator.
